HC Deb 21 February 1918 vol 103 c951W
General CROFT

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention has been called to the new petrol coupons which have been issued; whether eight signatures are required for every tin of petrol issued; and, if so, what action he will take to simplify this procedure?

Mr. WARDLE

The holder of a motor spirit licence issued in respect of a private motor car is required to sign his name once only in order to obtain a tin of petrol. The supplier is also required to sign the coupon and the counterfoil attached thereto. The coupons issued in respect of commercial vans and lorries are usually for more than 2 gallons of petrol at a time.
