HC Deb 21 February 1918 vol 103 cc940-1W
Mr. TOOTILL

asked the Minister of Munitions whether he is aware that the scheme for the erection of 300 houses as a first instalment in Lincoln is being delayed; can he state the reason for this delay after the plans have been prepared and arrangements made for the commencement of the work; whether he is aware that the delay is causing unrest amongst the munition workers in Lin- coin; and whether steps will be taken to secure the carrying out and completion of the scheme without unnecessary delay?

Mr. KELLAWAY

A scheme has been formulated for the erection of permanent houses at Lincoln, and has been submitted for the sanction of the War Priorities Committee of the War Cabinet. It is understood that owing to the serious shortage of building material and labour a i the present time it has not been possible for the Committee to make a decision on the scheme without, at the same rime, considering other requirements. It is understood that a decision will be made at an early date.
