§ Mr. WATTasked the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether he is aware that wool brokers in the South-West of Scotland are paying only 10d. per lb. for unwashed black-faced wool and 11d. for unwashed Cheviot wool, arbitrarily calling the whole output of farmers broken wool; at what prices such wools are taken over by his Department, and who reaps the profit between the farmer and the War Office; and whether he will put an end to this system, which enables the wool brokers to take advantage of the farmers, whilst ascribing the responsibility to the War Office?
§ Mr. FORSTERI regret that my inquiries into this matter are not yet complete, but I will communicate with my hon. Friend as soon as I am in a position to do so.
