HC Deb 12 November 1917 vol 99 c59W
Mr. KING

asked the Postmaster-General whether he has received from women clerks of the Savings Bank Department a complaint that a clerk of only twenty-one months' service was transferred to a post in the Agricultural Wages Board while those senior to her on the list of applicants for transfer were disregarded and passed over; and whether this list will in future be made use of?

Mr. ILLINGWORTH

I have received the complaint to which the hon. Member refers. The Agricultural Wages Board applied for the transfer of the clerk in question and it could not reasonably have been vetoed by me. The list to which the hon. Member refers is kept in connection with transfers to Post Office Departments in Ireland whether the selection is in my own hands.
