Member for Worcestershire (Bewdley Division) if orders have been given for flannel shirts to the Welsh Woollen Manufacturing Association, Llanidloes, and if, before giving this contract, he assured himself that the wages paid by this firm are reasonable; and if he will make inquiries as to the rate of wages paid to married men who will be employed upon the execution of this contract?
§ Mr. FORSTERNo orders for flannel shirts have been placed with the North Wales Textile Manufacturers Association, which is presumably the body referred to by the hon. Member. Any orders for shirts given to North Wales manufacturers will be confined to those on the War Office list of contractors, and the contracts will be subject to the usual War Office conditions, including the Fair-Wages Clause.
