HC Deb 09 March 1916 vol 80 c1730W
Mr. PAGET

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether it is the intention of the Government that married men of military age are to remain behind while married men who have attested under Lord Derby's scheme are called up for service; and, if so, will he say why such a course is being pursued?

Mr. TENNANT

There is no power under the Military Service Act to call up married men. The policy of the Government with respect to this subject was fully stated by the Prime Minister when the Act was passing through this House. I have nothing to add to the Prime Minister's statements.
