HC Deb 04 December 1916 vol 88 c668W
Mr. KING

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that an alien who attested voluntarily in September with the promise of appeal to a tribunal has been called to the Colours and apprehended as an absentee; whether it is by his orders or with his knowledge that this alien was first arrested, then imprisoned, then liberated after two days in a cell; and whether he will undertake that aliens of Allied nationality who have attested under the voluntary recruiting scheme shall be allowed the privileges of appeal as promised to them?

Mr. FORSTER

I am not aware of the circumstances stated by the hon. Member; if he will give me further information I will make inquiries.
