HC Deb 04 March 1915 vol 70 c992W
Mr. FIELD

asked the Vice-President of the Department of Agriculture (Ireland), whether he can give the figures of expenditure re cattle diseases in Ireland, by which a sum of £920 7s. 3d. was deducted as the proportion payable by the Dublin County Council?

Mr. T. W. RUSSELL

The recoupments to local authorities in Ireland, and other expenses out of the general account of the General Cattle Diseases Fund, amounted in the nine months ended 31st December, 1914, to £6,520. Further expenditure in the three months ending 31st March, 1915, is estimated at £5,000. In addition a deficit of about £4,000 on the Parliamentary Grants for swine fever and foot-and-mouth disease in the year ending 31st March next, will have to be defrayed out of the Cattle Diseases Fund. The assessment made in February, 1915, on all Ireland under the Diseases of Animals Acts (of which £920 7s. 3d. is the share of county Dublin), will, with the available balance, be required to meet the above charges and further payments falling due after 31st March next.
