HC Deb 27 April 1915 vol 71 cc597-8W
Mr. CURRIE

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether His Majesty's Government is now in a position to assure the cocoa trade and consumers of cocoa in this country generally that the conditions of native labour in the Portuguese colonies are satisfactory; and, if so, whether steps will be taken to make this widely known, in view of the commercial treaty entered between this country and Portugal in August of last year?

Sir E. GREY

Papers will be laid shortly before Parliament showing the present conditions of labour in the Portuguese African colonies on the mainland and islands.
