asked the President of the Local Government Board what was the amount of money expended in Poor Law relief, both indoor and outdoor, in England and Wales in the years 1906 and 1913 respectively?

The total expenditure on Poor Law relief in England and Wales for the year ended on 31st March, 1906, was £14,035,888, including £7,316,809 which could be apportioned to indoor relief, and £3,917,305 to outdoor relief. The total expenditure for the year ended on 31st March, 1913, was £14,935,605, including £8,925,467, which could be apportioned to indoor relief, and £3,091,914 to outdoor relief.
