HC Deb 24 February 1914 vol 58 c1610W
Mr. HARRIS

asked the President of the Local Government Board whether the Board attach any conditions with regard to birth visiting to the consent they give under Section 2 of the Notification of Births Act, 1907; and whether he will state how many Metropolitan borough councils actually carry out birth visiting, specifying those which do so?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

Having regard to the terms of the Act, the Local Government Board have not formally attached any conditions to their consent to its adoption, but they have endeavoured to secure that some machinery should be available for following up the cases and giving advice where necessary. As regards the second part of the question, in all the Metropolitan boroughs arrangements have been made for visiting except in Camberwell and Islington.
