§ Mr. HAVILAND-BURKEasked the Chief Secretary why an extra force of four constables has been stationed at Cloneygowan, North King's County, although no disturbance of the peace has occurred or is threatened in that district; and whether he will cause inquiries to be made with a view to the immediate withdrawal of these extra police?
§ Mr. BIRRELLThe Inspector-General informs me that the force at Cloneygowan consists of one sergeant and four constables, which is one constable over the fixed strength or the station. This increase is considered necessary by the police authorities who are responsible for the peace of the district.
