HC Deb 10 January 1913 vol 46 cc1545-6W
Sir WALTER NUGENT

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland what provision has been made for supplying sanatorium treatment under the National Insurance Act in the county of Westmeath, and why a man named Reddin, being a native of Moate, in that county, was not given such treatment when an application on his behalf was made to the County Committee on the recommendation and certificate furnished by a county doctor?

Mr. BIRRELL

The County of Westmeath Insurance Committee have made arrangements with the Women's National Health Association for the treatment in the institutions under its management of tuberculous insured persons recommended by the Committee for sanatorium benefit. With regard to the second part of the question I am informed that chiefly owing to the patient's condition he has not yet been sent to an institution. Negotiations are, however, still in progress, and I will see that the hon. Member is informed of the result as soon as possible.
