asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what civilities and attentions were paid by Lord Gladstone, as the representative of His Majesty the King in South Africa, to the officers and men of His Majesty's ship "New Zealand" on the recent visit of that ship to that country?

The "New Zealand" spent four days (of which one was a Sunday) at Capetown, during which time the Governor, as I see from the Press, suitably entertained the officers of the ship.
