§ Mr. LANE-FOXasked the Postmaster-General whether his attention has been drawn to the fact that the parish of Wistow, near Selby, having an acreage of 4,362 and a population of 650, is without either a money order or a telegraph office; whether he is aware that the agricultural progress of the district is handicapped by this fact; and can he promise any redress of this grievance?
§ Mr. HERBERT SAMUELFrom the returns which have been furnished to me it is estimated that the number of money orders likely to be issued at Wistow Post Office is only three a month, while not one telegram a day would be handed in if a telegraph office were opened there. There is a money order and telegraph office two miles distant, and, in the circumstances, I do not think any additional facilities are warranted.
