HC Deb 22 October 1912 vol 42 cc1960-1W
Mr. PRETYMAN

asked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that the accommodation at the Ingatestone Post Office is not less unsatisfactory, inadequate, or insanitary than it was three months ago; and whether he can now state what arrangements have been made to provide for the decent housing of the staff?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

This matter has been receiving close attention, and I have arranged for the provision of temporary accommodation, to which the postmen will be transferred. This will do much to improve matters in the present premises pending the provision of a new permanent office. The settlement of the various details in connection with the temporary accommodation have occupied some little time, but the arrangements are being pressed forward as rapidly as possible, and I am in hopes that the premises may be erected and ready for occupation in about a month's time.
