HC Deb 21 May 1912 vol 38 cc1874-5W
Mr. PATRICK WHITE

asked whether Patrick Eginton, Grennan, near Oldcastle, county Meath, was granted a pension by the local committee which was disallowed by the pension officer, Appeal No. 2,798, although four aged respectable persons made affidavits that he was over seventy years of age; and whether he will state if any officer on behalf of the Local Government Board visited Eginton, and what opinion he formed as to his age?

Mr. BIRRELL

The facts are as stated in the question, but it appeared from the Census Returns that Patrick Eginton was not born in 1841, and was only three years old in 1851, which would make him now sixty-four years of age. The Local Government Board did not consider it necessary to send an inspector to visit Eginton.
