§ Mr. CASSELasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he would be prepared to furnish a detailed statement showing how the estimated deficiency on the Metropolitan police fund for the years 1912–13 and 1913–14 is arrived at?
§ Mr. McKENNAI do not think it would be desirable to do so. My predecessors have always held it undesirable to publish 689W estimates of police expenditure, and Parliament has never required it. The accounts of the Metropolitan police are by statute presented to Parliament every year in the month of April.
