HC Deb 04 March 1912 vol 35 cc167-8W
Mr. CHAMBERS

asked the Chief Secretary whether his attention has been drawn to the observations of the right hon. the Lord Chief Baron, at the close of the Ulster Winter Assizes at Belfast, on the 13th December, 1911, as to the grievances of the city jurors consequent upon their prolonged attendance at Assizes held in Belfast; and whether or not he will introduce or facilitate legislation with a view of minimising such grievances?

Mr. BIRRELL

I have seen a newspaper report of the Lord Chief Baron's observations. The Belfast jurors, no doubt, have a grievance, but it would require legislation, of which I see no hope at present, to place them in the same position as the Cork jurors, to whom his lordship referred.
