HC Deb 13 June 1912 vol 39 c1205W
Mr. BARNES

asked the Postmaster-General why the Glasgow Branch of the Civil Service Socialist Society was refused permission to exhibit bills announcing its participation in the May Day demonstration in that town this year; and whether he is aware that this society is recognised by the Department, and that similar bills to those prohibited have been exhibited during the past four years?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

The hon. Member is under a misapprehension. The Civil Service Socialist Society has no official connection with the Post Office. The Bill to which the hon. Member refers was an announcement of a public political demonstration; and it was therefore unsuitable for exhibition on Post Office premises.
