HC Deb 11 June 1912 vol 39 cc830-1W
Mr. JAMES PARKER

asked the President of the Local Government Board whether he will state the number of children successfully vaccinated by the public vaccinator of the Dewsbury Union during the years 1908, 1909, 1910, and 1911 respectively; what is the annual salary paid to the public vaccinator in question, under the Order of the Local Government Board issued on 20th July, 1908; and has any decrease been made in the salary in consequence of the diminution in the number of vaccinations performed?

Mr. BURNS

The present public vaccinator of the Dewsbury Union is required to devote his whole time to the duties of his office. He was appointed on 11th September, 1908. Previously there were three part-time public vaccinators acting for the union. The number of children successfully vaccinated by him during the years ended 29th September, 1909, 1910, and 1911, was 1,811, 1,009, and 898 respectively. Under the contract entered into between the guardians and the public vaccinator, he is paid a salary of £300 per annum and £150 per annum for expenses, and no deduction has been made in his salary in consequence of the decrease in the number of vaccinations.
