HC Deb 11 December 1912 vol 45 c486W
Mr. WATT

asked the Lord Advocate whether it is to be the fixed rule of his Department not to appoint to sheriff principalships in Scotland under the Act of 1907 solicitors who have acted for five years as sheriffs substitute, in view of the fact that these would be wrhole-time servants of the State?

Mr. URE

The answer to my hon. Friend's question is in the negative.
