HC Deb 27 November 1911 vol 32 cc176-8W
An Hon. MEMBER

(whose name did not appear), asked the Secretary to the Treasury if he will state the date of each application and the amount applied for as grants from the Development Commissioners by the county councils and colleges of Wales, including Monmouthshire, excluding applications to the Road Board; and whether he will in each case indicate whether such application is now before the Commissioners or is still being considered by the Department of Agriculture?

Mr. McKINNON WOOD

The following particulars give the information so far as it is available:—

The Development Commissioners have considered and reported upon the following applications:—

University College of Wales Agricultural education and research.
Amlwich Harbour Trustees Harbour maintenance.
University College of South Wales Agricultural Department.

The other applications, that by the University College of Wales for fisheries research, and that by the University College of North Wales, are now under the consideration of the Development Commission. Of the other applications still before the Board of Agriculture and Fisheries, a considerable number will be covered by general applications put forward by that Department in accordance with the general principles adopted by the Development Commission, and set forth in their first annual Report.
