§ Mr. HUNTasked whether, if a private soldier contracts consumption or any other disease when in His Majesty's service which makes him incapable of earning his own living, he is discharged from the Army and can only receive a pension of 8d. a day as a maximum; and whether this also applies to accidents which happen when not on active service?
§ Mr. HALDANEThe maximum for disease or accident which is not the result of military duty is 1s. a day. For injuries due to military service the maximum is 2s. 6d. The actual Grant depends upon the origin of the disablement, the degree of disability, and the length of service.
