HC Deb 04 December 1911 vol 32 c1178W
Mr. ARNOLD WARD

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether a rule exists that a commission in a cavalry regiment cannot be offered to a cadet of the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich; and, if so, whether, in a special case, an exception to this rule is possible?

Colonel SEELY

The Royal Military Academy is maintained for the purpose of affording a special military education to candidates for commissions in the Royal Artillery and Royal Engineers. Any departure, such as that suggested, from the regulations governing the passing out of candidates from Woolwich or Sandhurst is, I am afraid, quite impracticable.
