§ Mr. HOBHOUSEThe temporary clerks employed in the Registry of Deeds in transcribing memorials of deeds are paid at the rate of 1½d. per folio of seventy-two words. This rate, which I understand is usual, has been in force in the office for very many years, and no representations on the subject have been received from the Registrar, who considers it sufficient for mere copying. The same rate is paid to writing clerks in the Dublin courts for copying on paper, and I see no reason for increasing it.
