HC Deb 28 April 1910 vol 17 cc771-2W
Mr. THOMAS F. SMYTH

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he has received a copy of the resolution passed by the joint committee of the Cavan and Leitrim Light Railway, at their meeting held in Mohill on Saturday, 16th April, with reference to the action of the railway company in refusing to allow the baronial auditor, Mr. P. Gannon, the right to inspect the account books and minute book, and as the ratepayers in the guaranteeing area have to pay a rate of 1s. in the £ on their valuation they consider an injustice is done to them in the refusal of the company to give the baronial auditor permission to inspect the books; and if any action will be taken in the matter?

Mr. BUXTON

I have received a copy of a resolution by the body referred to on the subject of the inspection of the books kept at the several stations on the railway. So far as I can see at present the matter does not appear to come within the jurisdiction of the Board of Trade, but I have forwarded a copy of the resolution to the company for their observations.
