HC Deb 12 April 1910 vol 16 c1204W
Mr. WILLIAM REDMOND

asked the Chief Secretary whether, in view of the tranquil state of county Clare and its freedom from crime or disturbance of a serious character he will cause the extra police force to be removed, and so relieve the ratepayers of the burden which the presence of an extra police force places upon them?

Mr. BIRRELL

While I am happy to say that parts of the county Clare are at present tranquil, the state of other parts cannot be described as satisfactory, and the responsible police authorities are unable at present to recommend any reduction in the force serving in the county.
