HC Deb 12 April 1910 vol 16 cc1203-4W
Mr. WILLIAM REDMOND

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland if he can say when the work of acquiring untenanted land in county Clare will be undertaken with a view to increasing the uneconomic holdings of the people in various districts?

Mr. BIRRELL

The Estates Commissioners have already acquired over 7,000 acres of untenanted land in county Clare, and proceedings for the purchase of 6,929 acres are at present pending before them. The Congested Districts Board are also in negotiation for the acquisition of untenanted land in the county. It would not be desirable to enter into particulars at this stage of the proceedings.
