HC Deb 04 April 1910 vol 16 cc179-80W
Mr. THOMAS O'DONNELL

asked what is the number of lay teachers employed in secondary schools in Ireland receiving grants from the Intermediate Board; what regulations have been made by the Board as to the training, qualification, salary, and pensions of those teachers; and the average salary paid to males and females?

Mr. BIRRELL

The Commissioners of Intermediate Education, to whom I have referred the question, are not in position to state the actual number of lay teachers in intermediate schools, or the average salaries paid to male and female teachers, nor have they any power to make regulations with regard to the training, qualifications, salaries, or pensions of such teachers.
