HC Deb 04 November 1909 vol 12 cc2137-8W
Sir ROBERT HOBART

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he has received any report from the military authorities respecting the recent manœuvres of the Territorial Force in the New Forest; if so, what was the nature of the report both in its military and financial aspects; whether free access was granted to the troops for using the roads in the adjacent Crown enclosures to facilitate their manœuvres in the open forest; and if complaints of any sort have been received?

Mr. HALDANE

No official report of these manœuvres has been received at the War Office, but I am glad to be able to tell my hon. Friend that from the information I have received they appear to have been of a highly satisfactory nature, and the troops taking part in them have benefited by the suitable character of the area over which they manœuvred. I am glad to say that so far as I am at present aware no complaints were received, and I feel we are indebted for this to the goodwill of all the parties concerned.
