HC Deb 04 November 1909 vol 12 c2152W
Mr. BOULTON

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention has been called to the fact that a recent deputation of cyclists who waited upon the railway companies to ask for a reconsideration of the rates for the carriage of cycles on railways has received only a concession that is very trifling and practically inoperative; and whether, in view of the fact that Irish and Continental railways carry cycles at rates much lower than are in force in Great Britain, he can take some action that will induce the railway companies in Great Britain to come into line with the Irish railways, and thereby benefit those people who ride cycles?

Mr. CHURCHILL

I understand that this matter has recently been discussed between certain cyclist associations and the railway companies, but I have no official information on the subject. If application by representative associations were made to the Board of Trade I should be happy to consider whether I could advantageously use my good offices with the companies.
