§ Mr. WILLIAM REDMONDasked whether Gaelic and Welsh are prescribed in the programmes of Civil Service examinations in which modern languages are named as subjects; and, if not, whether steps will be taken to have these two languages included in the programmes of such examinations in future.
§ The PRIME MINISTERGaelic and Welsh are not at present prescribed in the programmes of the examinations mentioned, and I understand that no Department has expressed a desire that either of these languages should be included in any scheme of examination for Civil Service situations.
