HC Deb 27 July 1909 vol 8 cc1139-40W
Captain FABER

asked the President of the Local Government Board if he can state whether overseers, having been once appointed, can be discharged if their work is not efficiently performed; and, if so, by whom?

Mr. BURNS

I am not aware that, speaking generally, an overseer can be discharged from his office on the ground that his work is not efficiently performed; but there are statutory provisions which render him liable to penalties if he neglects his duty.
