Mr. ARNOLD HERBERTasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether, having regard to the number of escapes from convict prisons and lunatic asylums, and the difficulty and expense of tracing and recapturing persona who have so escaped, he will cause experiments to be made with bloodhounds in cases of future escapes.
§ Mr. GLADSTONEI see grave objections to adopting this suggestion, especially in the case of lunatics. I am, however, obtaining some further information on the subject.
