Lord Brannan asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether, in the light of the United Nations request for extra troops in Bosnia, they are now proposing to send more British troops to the area to help secure peace and, if so, when, and how many.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Ministry of Defence (Viscount Cranborne)

My Lords, my right honourable friend the Secretary of State for Defence will be making a Statement on this issue at 3.30 this afternoon, which I shall be repeating to your Lordships later. would not wish to pre-empt that Statement.

Lord Brannan

My Lords, I am grateful to the noble Viscount for that reply. In view of what he said I look forward with keen anticipation to the Statement and shall reserve my comments until I hear it.

Viscount Ullswater

My Lords, it may be for the convenience of the House if my noble friend Lord Cranborne, with the leave of the House, now repeats a Statement to be made in another place on the British forces in Bosnia.
