§ 9A The Lord Beloff to move that the House do disagree with the Commons in their Amendment No. 9
§ Lord BeloffMy Lords, I beg to move that the House do disagree with the Commons in their Amendment No. 9.
I think that the arguments for this have already been rehearsed and, although I would like to put it on record that I move this measure, I do not propose to speak to it.
§ Moved, That the House do disagree with the Commons in their Amendment No. 9.—(Lord Beloff.)
§ Baroness BlatchMy Lords, I simply rise to invite the House not to accept Motion 9A but to agree with 96 the Commons in their Amendment No. 9.I do so for the following reason. This matter is about information to students. We insist that not only should they be informed—we believe that is self-evident —but that even potential students who write to a university or college for general information about the college where they are contemplating membership or participating in courses should have it made absolutely clear to them the arrangement for opted-out students as well as for those who are members of the union. It is no more or less than that.
§ Lord BeloffMy Lords, I beg leave to withdraw Motion 9A.
§ Motion, by leave, withdrawn.
§ The Lord ChancellorMy Lords, I beg to move that the House do agree with the Commons in their Amendment No. 9.
§ Moved, That the House do agree with the Commons in their Amendment No. 9.—(The Lord Chancellor.)
§ On Question, Motion agreed to.
