HL Deb 22 July 1991 vol 531 c465

3.2 p.m.

Viscount Brentford

My Lords, I beg to present a petition from members and friends of Unity Chapel Lockleaze, Bristol, which prays that this House will support the existing prohibition on Sunday trading because the practice of keeping one day of rest in each week is a God-given directive for the health and good of the: people and the universal obligation based on creation and practice by Jesus Christ, and if the law of the land allows Sunday trading these practices and principles would be eroded.

This petition against the extension of Sunday trading bears nearly 70 signatures.

Petition presented.
