HL Deb 22 July 1991 vol 531 c579

104 Clause 48, page 32, line 38, leave out 'Secretary of State' and insert 'Lord Chancellor, the Secretary of State or Lord Advocate or by any of them acting jointly.'.

105 Page 32, line 40, at end insert '(including, in particular. for different cases or categories of case)'.

The Lord Chancellor

My Lords, I beg to move that the House do agree with the Commons in their Amendments Nos. 104 and 105. As far as these amendments are concerned they provide for a range of transitional measures and consequential amendments to be made by order by the Secretary of State, the Lord Chancellor, the Lord Advocate or by some of them jointly according to the circumstances. As I explained earlier, the transitional arrangements are likely to be quite complicated. I sought to explain that before. That is why Amendment No. 106 is fairly complicated and comprehensive. However, we shall deal with that in a little more detail in a moment.

Moved, That the House do agree with the Commons in their Amendments Nos. 104 and 105.—(The Lord Chancellor.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
