My Lords, I beg to introduce a Bill to extend eligibility for maintained status under the Education Reform Act 1988 to certain independent schools, and amend the procedure for approval of proposals for the establishment and alteration of voluntary aided schools under Section 13 of the Education Act 1980. I beg to move that this Bill be now read a first time.
