HL Deb 24 May 1989 vol 508 c401

3.6 p.m.

Lord Denham

My Lords, it may be for the convenience of the House if I announce that the Third Reading of the Football Spectators Bill will be taken on Friday 16th June.

With the leave of the House I should like to say a brief word about the length of speeches in today's debate standing in the name of the noble Lord, Lord Underhill, to which your Lordships have agreed to apply a five-hour time limit. The number of speakers is such that it is not necessary to apply a formal time limit, but I am sure that noble Lords would agree that it would conform with the spirit of these short debates if noble Lords would keep their speeches reasonably brief.
