HL Deb 02 November 1988 vol 501 c336

223 Clause 229, page 101, line 17, leave out 'an appeal or reference' and insert 'a reference or appeal'.

224 Page 101, line 21, at end insert— '(3) The comptroller has jurisdiction to decide any incidental question of fact or law arising in the course of a reference under this section.'.

Lord Strathclyde

My Lords, with the leave of the House, I beg to move that the House do agree with the Commons in their Amendments Nos. 223 and 224 en bloc. For the convenience of the House, I should like to speak also to Amendments Nos. 226, 227, 231, 232, 235, 236, 308, 337, 338 and 399. This group of amendments introduces a more logical approach to the way in which appeals from decisions of the comptroller are dealt with. It also makes a small change to the provisions involving the patents county courts to reflect the fact that under the Bill more than one such court may be designated.

Moved, That the House do agree with the Commons in their Amendments Nos. 223 and 224 en bloc.—(Lord Strathclyde.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
