Moved, That the Fourth Report of Session 1985–86 from the Select Committee be agreed to.—(The Chairman of Committees.)

The Report was as follows:
1. Lord Chancellor's Salary
The Committee approved a reapportionment of the statutory salary payable to the Lord Chancellor in relation to his duties as Speaker and agreed that a 14 per cent. share should, in future, be paid from the House of Lords Vote.

2. Staff of the House
The Committee agreed further proposals from the Sub-Committee and approved revised scales of pay for the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod and the Secretary to the Clerk of the Parliaments, and adjustments in the pay scales for Senior Reporters, Reporters and Hansard Typists. The Committee also agreed ex gratia payments to certain secretarial staff.
2. Parliament Office
The Committee were informed that Miss F. P. Tudor had been promoted to Senior Clerk and that Mr. T. V. Mahon and Mr. W. G. Sleath had been appointed as Clerks to fill vacancies resulting from the retirement of Mr. H. Christopherson and the resignation of Miss C. Kay. The Committee also took note of the appointment of Miss E. M. McCaffrey as Legal Officer in place of Mr. J. Stoodley and of the promotion of Mrs. C. Boden to Assistant Editor and agreed to a temporary increase in the complement of Senior Reporters.
4. Library
The Committee authorised further provision for the employment of casual staff in the Library for a limited period.
5. Revised Scales of Pay
The Committee confirmed the application to staff of the House of Lords of the following Civil Service memoranda:—
CM/767—London Weighting.
IM 86/4—Revised rates of pay for weekly paid Refreshment Department staff.
6. Superannuation
The Committee were notified of the following awards made under the House of Lords Staff Pension Scheme.
