Lord Dean of Beswick had given notice of his intention to ask the following Question:

To ask Her Majesty's Government whether they are considering the introduction of any further measures to reduce the number of adult unemployed.

The noble Lord said: My Lords, in view of the fact, as I understand it, that later today a statement is to be made which will deal with the subject matter of this Question, I seek the leave of the House not to proceed with it.
