HL Deb 18 October 1984 vol 455 cc1186-7

Lord Jenkins of Putney asked Her Majesty's Government:

What saving would have been made if the valium tablets prescribed in the last recorded year had been instead the identical diazepam tablets.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Health and Social Security (Lord Glenarthur): The estimated saving if diazepam tablets had been prescribed instead of valium tablets would have been £2 million in 1982. This is the last complete year for which data are available.
