HL Deb 26 January 1982 vol 426 c862
Lord Denham

My Lords, it may be for the convenience of your Lordships if I announce that dinner will be available today at the usual time. The Committee stage of the Civic Government (Scotland) Bill will be adjourned at approximately 7 o'clock for a short period, and during this adjournment the Committee stage of the Civil Aviation (Amendment) Bill will be taken.

Lord Glenamara

My Lords, are we not to have a Statement today on the appalling crisis in the nation's social and economic life, with the rise in the unemployment figure to over 3 million, telling us what the Government propose to do about it?

Lord Denham

My Lords, the noble Lord will be well aware of the rules governing Statements in this House.

Lord Glenamara

I am, my Lords. That is why I asked the question.
