Lord Trefgarne

My Lords, I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in their Amendment No. 141. This amendment proposes a new clause to widen the powers of the Secretary of State to investigate the ownership of shares or debentures under Section 173 of the 1948 Act. It will enable the department to make enquiries of any person whom it has reasonable cause to believe to have, or to be able to obtain, information about interests in shares or debentures and will require such a person to provide that information.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said amendment.—(Lord Trefgarne.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
