The Lord Chancellor

My Lords, I beg to move that the House do now resolve itself into Committee on this Bill.

Moved, That the House do now resolve itself into Committee (on Re-commitment).—(The Lord Chancellor.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.

House in Committee (on Re-commitment) accordingly.

[The LORD ABERDARE in the Chair.]

Clauses 1 to 66 agreed to.

Schedules 1 to 7 agreed to.

Schedule 8 [Transitional provisions and savings]:

The Lord Chancellor moved the following amendment: Page 81, line 26, leave out paragraph 9.

The noble and learned Lord said: This is a purely technical amendment. As drafted the Bill took account of the possibility that existed then that the British Telecommunications Bill would not be in force when this Bill came into operation—this Bill being a consolidation Bill. But the British Telecommunications Act is in force now, and has been for some little time. Therefore, the provision relating to that is otiose and should be deleted from the Bill. I beg to move.

On Question, amendment agreed to.

Schedule 8, as amended, agreed to.

Schedule 9 agreed to.

House resumed: Bill reported with the amendment.
