HL Deb 26 March 1981 vol 418 cc1282-3

3.28 p.m.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Northern Ireland Office (Lord Elton)

My Lords, I beg to move that the Planning Blight (Compensation) (Northern Ireland) Order 1981, a draft of which was laid before this House on 16th February 1981, be approved.

This order consolidates the law relating to planning blight. It was considered by the Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills on 11th March and the committee was satisfied that it is a purely consolidating measure. It therefore makes no changes of substance in the existing law, but brings it together in one order. I beg to move.

Moved, That the draft order laid before the House on 16th February be approved.—(Lord Elton.)

Lord Blease

My Lords, I wish to thank the noble Lord for his explanation of the order. We note that the draft Planning Blight (Compensation) (Northern Ireland) Order, together with the next item on the Order Paper, the draft Public Order (Northern Ireland) Order, was considered by the Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills and we have also noted their report. To expedite business, may I indicate that we on this side of the House support both this order and the next item of business on the Order Paper.

On Question, Motion agreed to.
