HL Deb 12 February 1981 vol 417 c284

Viscount Long rose to move, That the draft order laid before the House on 13th January be approved.

The noble Viscount said: My Lords, this order consolidates the law relating to weights and measures. It makes no change of substance to the existing law but brings it together in one order.

It may help your Lordships to know that the Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills considered the order on 4th February and reported that in their opinion it is pure consolidation and that there is no point to which the attention of Parliament should be drawn. I beg to move.

Moved, That the draft order laid before the House on 13th January be approved.—(Viscount Long.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
